wall. Both Westcoast Holsteins and R&F Livestock owned, or were partners in, five class winners apiece at Red Deer.
Taking the Intermediate Champion rosette was WENDON FURIOUS DEBORAH, the recently fresh, first place Junior 3-Year- Old from Wendon Holsteins (AB). Her width and strength through the front-end and lovely udder gave her an advantage over the ultra dairy Senior 3-Year-Old winner from Westcoast, SAVAGE-LEIGH SELSER-RED- ET, who was tagged Reserve Intermediate Champion.
PODCREST MONSOON THUNDERSTORM, the well-balanced, dairy and hard topped white heifer from Westcoast was named Junior Champion. This Intermediate Yearling was sharper, more feminine and walking on a nicer set of pasterns than KOZAK WARRIOR BOMBSHELL RED, the winning Senior Calf who was Reserve Junior Champion. One of four class winners bred by Kozak Holsteins (AB), this long, good rumped heifer was acquired at showtime by new owners R&F Livestock and Pierre Boulet (QC).

the hard-working Westerner Showcase Dairy Committee and he and his family were thrilled and humbled to be awarded the show’s Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor banners. It had been a busy few days for the Wendon crew as they and Lone Pine Jerseys (AB) had held a Fall Fantasy Online Sale earlier in the week, where 34 lots averaged $5079 (top of $14,200), with buyers coming from six provinces and the United States.
Morgan Sangster, who was marking her last day as the Holstein Canada/Jersey Canada Field Representative for Western Canada on October 16th, was thanked publicly during the show for her service to the breeders in this area. Morgan has accepted a new position with BC Dairy.
A number of show animals (both Holstein and Jersey) were bought and sold during the event, a welcome sign that we have not seen for awhile. John Copithorne, Orville Schmidt and Dr. David Chalack provided the online commentary again for the show’s live internet feed and drew rave reviews from those watching th e.

The ‘best in the west’ were on display at the Westerner Dairy Showcase Holstein Show on October 16th at Westerner Park, Red Deer, AB. A total of 191 animals paraded before Judge Blair Weeks of Weeksdale Holsteins, Pleasant Valley, PEI, who praised the tremendous depth and quality of every class in this outstanding event. With only a few shows able to be held in Western Canada this year due to COVID-19, exhibitors and spectators alike were thrilled to be at a show, even if it meant some health and Covid related restrictions had to be in place.
The well-known Red & White beauty from the Apple family, WESTCOAST DEFIANT
ADDISON, clinched Grand Champion Holstein, Grand Champion Red & White, Best Bred and Owned and Best Udder of the show after winning the Mature Cow class for Westcoast Holsteins (BC) and their partners, Quebequa Holsteins (BC) and Colganados Genetics LLC (QC). Addison’s dairyness, exceptional mammary system with its high and wide rear udder and definition of seam, along with the nicer set to her hind legs, put her ahead of the stylish 4-Year-Old and Reserve Grand Champion, HARVDALE MERIDIAN CHERISH, from R&F Livestock Inc. (SK), who was admired for her frame and blending of fore udder into the body
